Trenton is well known in the U.S. and Europe for their complete protection systems for use in pipeline rehabilitation and for ongoing corrosion prevention. The Trenton Wax-Tape® Anticorrosion Wrap System includes primer, wrap, and (where appropriate) outerwrap. This complete system will limit corrosion in conditions close to water, underground, and aboveground.
The benefit of such a complete system is the ease of installation with minimal surface preparation. Since only minimal surface preparation is required, this system is ideal for situations where space or environmental limitations prevent abrasion blasting.
Because it is so easy to apply, the Trenton Wax-Tape anticorrosion wrap system requires only minimal operator training, and no special tools are required—only a wire brush.
Temcoat TM 3000 Primer
While many other anticorrosion wraps require blasting of the steel surface to remove all traces of coating or rust, Trenton’s Temcoat® 3000 Primer can be applied after a SPSS SP2 or ISO St2 wire brushing of the surface by hand to remove loose rust and dirt. The surface does not need to be dry, since the hydrophobic primer will displace the moisture and bond to the surface of the pipe. Temcoat 3000 Primer provides the protection required to prevent corrosion in harsh environments.
Wax-Tape® #2 Anticorrosion Wrap
Wax-Tape #2 Wrap is made of microcrystalline wax and a solvent impregnated into a thick, nonwoven synthetic felt-type material and includes no siliceous mineral fillers. When exposed to air, the solvent evaporates and leaves a firm surface, which is not sticky and is resistant to UV.
The unique properties of the wrap also mean that it can readily conform to irregular surfaces. This is especially useful when dealing with pipe fittings or bolts, which are key points for corrosion. Check out the videos below to see how easy it is to install!
Wax-Tape® #1 Anticorrosion Wrap
Wax-Tape #1 wrap offers the same corrosion protection to steel surfaces as Wax-Tape #2 wrap, and also contains no fillers. It is ideal for use underground where there is no requirement for a cured finish. This is the wrap that Bellis recommends be used under insulation, to prevent CUI.
HT-3000TM High-Temperature Anticorrosion Wrap
Bellis can also supply Trenton products for hot applications. Trenton HT-3000 High-Temperature wrap can stay in service in temperatures up to 110°C and can be used above ground or below ground.
MCOTM Outerwrap
If further mechanical protection is required, Trenton’s MCO outerwrap will cure quickly to a hard surface, providing a barrier to mechanical damage.
